The South Pacific Coffee Company (SPCC) has officially joined the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) as a competition partner for the HOTEC Tradeshow 2024. This partnership involves a significant role for SPCC in the Barista Competition, an event designed to elevate the proficiency and knowledge of baristas to deliver outstanding coffee experiences to both local and international patrons.
SPCC’s involvement was warmly welcomed by FHTA CEO Fantasha Lockington who lauded the company’s expertise and commitment to premium coffee. She believes that their participation will serve to enhance the competitiveness of the baristas through providing quality education opportunities.
SPCC Director Michael Dennis expressed his honor at being part of the effort to expand Fiji’s hospitality sector. “Our primary objective is to assist baristas in refining their skills and exhibit the top-notch coffee that the South Pacific can produce. We are excited for a spirited and vibrant competition,” said Dennis.
The Barista Competition, a highlight of HOTEC 2024, will begin in late July with preliminary rounds. Baristas from all over the nation will have the opportunity to compete, learn, and perfect their craft leading to the grand finals at the tradeshow.
According to FHTA, SPCC will play a part in several activities during the tradeshow, offering insights into coffee trends, techniques, and innovation. Lockington stated, “We are committed to creating a platform for excellence and learning at HOTEC 2024. With SPCC being part of the team, we are confident that our competitions will inspire and raise the bar in our industry, benefiting both contestants and the broader community.”
