International sports star Sonny Bill Williams is set to be the chief guest at the South Pacific Boxing Promotion (SPBP) event today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Williams shared that he understands the emotions boxers experience before a fight, stating, “I have been in the same situation, and I know the nerves that come with it.”
He expressed excitement for the upcoming event and conveyed his best wishes to the participating boxers, indicating confidence that it would attract a full crowd. “Good luck to all the boxers, and for putting on an event like this, I know it is going to be a sell-out. Thanks for letting me be here,” he said.
Williams also acknowledged Mohammed Shameem, the director of South Pacific Boxing Promotion, for coordinating the event. He noted that the expressions on the boxers’ faces suggested they were well-prepared for fight night. Williams is particularly eager to see the Singh brothers, Sebastian Singh and Ubayd Haider (formerly Nathan Singh), showcase their skills.
During the weigh-in, Shameem emphasized the importance of punctuality for the boxers’ fights.
