The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Viliame Gavoka as Deputy Prime Minister, despite his recent resignation as the party leader. SODELPA’s General Secretary, Viliame Takayawa, clarified that the appointment of government positions falls under the Prime Minister’s jurisdiction, as stipulated in the Coalition Agreement.

Takayawa emphasized the fairness of allowing Gavoka to retain his position, given that he was the party leader during the 2022 national elections.
