The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has expressed concern about the increasing number of women engaging in conflicts and expressing animosity towards one another on social media. Lavenia Tuitabu, a counselor advocate from the FWCC, raised this issue during a live stream on the organization’s social media, questioning the root causes of such conflicts among women.
Tuitabu noted that these tensions often arise when a partner is involved with another woman while still in a relationship. This leads to disputes where women, feeling hurt, turn against one another publicly. She emphasized that even though women may be suffering emotionally, they often defend their partners while criticizing the other woman involved.
“This drama frequently sees women overlooking their male partners and instead attacking each other with harsh words,” Tuitabu remarked. She highlighted that the man at the center of the situation often remains unaffected and indifferent to the emotional turmoil experienced by both women, suggesting he manipulates both sides.
“It is troubling to consider; ultimately, we end up sharing images of these women, who then receive derogatory comments,” she added.
