“Social Media Warfare: Women at Odds in Love Triangle Drama”

The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has expressed concern regarding the increase in women fighting and expressing their animosity toward each other on social media platforms. Lavenia Tuitabu, a counselor advocate at FWCC, posed a question during a live video on the organization’s social media page: Who instigates the conflicts and pain between women?

Tuitabu noted that such disputes often stem from situations where a woman’s partner is involved with another individual. Consequently, women from both parties find themselves in conflict, leading to the airing of personal grievances on social media.

She observed that while women are understandably hurt, they tend to defend their partners while targeting the other women involved. “During these disputes, the men are often set aside as women hurl spiteful remarks at one another,” Tuitabu stated.

Moreover, she highlighted that the man at the center of the conflict remains unaffected and indifferent to the emotional distress experienced by both women, often playing them against each other. Tuitabu remarked, “When these confrontations arise, we must question who is truly to blame; it is the man who created this scenario.”

She expressed concern over the impact of these dynamics, noting that in the end, women find themselves posting pictures that invite further hurtful comments from the online community.
