Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru has expressed increasing concern regarding the misuse of social media platforms. He highlighted instances where these platforms are used as tools for personal vendettas and defamation.
“The digital landscape, while providing unparalleled connectivity and opportunities for dialogue, has also turned into a battleground fraught with misinformation,” Mr. Saukuru stated. He emphasized that the defamation spread through social media can have severe consequences for individuals.
“False accusations and malicious rumors can destroy reputations, harm professional relationships, and cause significant emotional distress,” he warned. The minister encouraged young people to utilize social media to foster positive change within society.
