Sireli Maqala, the fullback for the Flying Fijians, delivered a standout performance by scoring the try-of-the-match, helping Bayonne achieve a decisive 37-7 victory over La Rochelle in their Top 14 encounter at Stade Jean Dauger Stadium yesterday.

Playing in the outside centre position, Maqala initiated and capped off a remarkable length-of-the-field attack, showcasing his skills with a stylish dive into the corner for a try in the 50th minute.

Bayonne’s dominance was largely established in the first half, with tries from Aurelien Callandret, Facundo Bosch, and Camille Lopez, along with a penalty try. The flyhalf contributed by converting two tries and successfully kicking a penalty.

La Rochelle managed to add a single consolation try in the 71st minute, scored by Alexandre Kuntelia, with Ihaia West converting the attempt.
