Fiji’s Sebastian Singh, known as “The Sniper,” is set to face “King” Tonga Tongotongo this Saturday in a highly anticipated match for the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title at Prince Charles Park. Singh is confident that the intense training he and his team have undertaken will lead to success on fight night.
“We’ve trained really hard for this fight, knowing exactly what we’re up against. It’s going to be tough, but we’ve left no stone unturned,” Singh stated. While he has faced tougher competitors internationally, he admits that fighting at home adds an extra layer of nerves, particularly with local fans watching.
“It’s always different fighting at home,” he reflected, adding that the support from the kids he works with, his community, and family motivates him greatly. This fight carries particular emotional weight for Singh as his father is currently unwell, and winning the title would mean a lot to him.
“This fight is not just for me, but for my dad, my team, and all the kids I work with,” he emphasized. Singh plans to focus on breaking down his opponent, aiming for a stoppage in the later rounds.
“I’ve fought fighters with better records than him before. It’s just another fight. We’ve done the hard work, and I believe it’ll show in the ring,” he expressed with confidence. Singh is also eager about the presence of boxing star Sonny Bill Williams, who will be the chief guest at the event.
“I’ve fought on a show hosted by Sonny’s team in Australia, and hopefully, I can impress again and open up more opportunities abroad,” he mentioned. Despite the excitement surrounding the fight, Singh is concentrated on the task at hand.
“I’m not looking past this fight. Right now, it’s all about getting through Tonga. After that, whatever comes my way, I’ll be ready,” he concluded.
Fans across Fiji and beyond are eager to see Singh aim for glory, not just for himself but for his family, supporters, and the nation.
