Silktails Strike New Alliance with Bulldogs: What This Means for Rugby League

The Kaiviti Silktails have entered into a three-year partnership with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, marking a new chapter in their development as they end a four-year collaboration with the Sydney Roosters. This partnership will see a cohesive alignment between the Silktails and Bulldogs Football Programs over the next three seasons.

Petero Civoniceva, chairman of the Kaiviti Silktails, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Our club is so excited to be partnering with the Bulldogs, and there were numerous reasons why this arrangement made sense for us.” He highlighted the impressive performance of the Bulldogs’ NRL team, which has captured the admiration of Rugby League fans.

Civoniceva praised the work of Phil Gould and Adam Hartigan with the Bulldogs’ Pathways Program, emphasizing the importance of aligning with a robust development program. He also took a moment to express his gratitude to the Sydney Roosters for their partnership over the past four years, wishing them all the best for the future.

From Suva, Bulldogs General Manager of Football Gould commented on the significance of this new collaboration. He noted that the Bulldogs have expanded their commitment to Fijian Rugby League, particularly following the acquisition of Viliame Kikau. This has included the establishment of ‘The Kikau Academy’ in Fiji, with the club’s Ron Massey Cup and Jersey Flegg teams making three trips to Fiji in the past year to bolster local engagement.

Gould described the partnership with the Silktails as a further extension of the Bulldogs’ dedication to promoting Rugby League in Fiji.
