A 17-year-old boy is among 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with serious sexual offenses. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, 26 people have been charged with a cumulative 70 counts of sexual offenses during August. The charges include 46 counts of rape, three of attempted rape, two of abduction with intent to commit rape, five of indecent assault, and 14 of sexual assault.
Among the 24 victims, 15 were under the age of 18. The victims comprised 22 females and two males, with 12 incidents involving victims and accused individuals who were related.
In particular cases, a 76-year-old man was charged with raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, while a 56-year-old man faced three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man was charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter.
In another case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but the matter was discontinued following his death. A 35-year-old man faces charges of one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault against his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Furthermore, a 56-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping and one count of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old niece, and a 21-year-old man was charged with raping his 25-year-old niece. A 40-year-old man has also been charged with multiple offenses against his 17-year-old niece, alongside a 37-year-old charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.
Other charges included those against a 31-year-old for raping his 29-year-old wife, though this case was eventually dropped when the complainant recanted. An 18-year-old man was charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin.
In one instance, a 68-year-old man faced charges for raping a 25-year-old woman, but this matter was discontinued as the complainant could not be reached. Additionally, two 18-year-old men and one 20-year-old man were charged with several counts of sexual offenses against a 16-year-old girl.
A 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape against a 16-year-old girl, whom he was in a relationship with at the time. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man faced charges for raping his 20-year-old girlfriend, and a 19-year-old was charged with both raping and attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl; this case was also dropped due to lack of contact with the complainant.
Another incident involved a 53-year-old man charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault involving two young men. A 32-year-old man was charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, and a 29-year-old faced charges for raping a 16-year-old girl; both cases were discontinued when the victims recanted their allegations.
In total, eight cases were discontinued after being filed for insufficient evidence, inability to contact victims, or instances of false complaints.
