A 17-year-old boy is among 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with serious sexual offenses. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, these 26 individuals were charged with 70 counts of various sexual offenses in August. The charges include 46 counts of rape, three counts of attempted rape, two counts of abduction with the intent to commit rape, five counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Among the 24 victims, 15 were minors, with two male victims and 22 female victims. Notably, in 12 incidents, the accused and the victims were related.
A 76-year-old man faces a charge of raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, while a 56-year-old man has been charged with three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. In another incident, a 40-year-old man faces nine charges of raping his 8-year-old daughter. A 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but this case was discontinued following his death.
A 35-year-old man is charged with one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault relating to his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man faces two counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. Another 56-year-old man has been charged with two counts of rape and one of sexual assault regarding his 13-year-old niece. Additionally, a 21-year-old man has been charged with raping his 25-year-old niece.
A 40-year-old man is facing two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault against his 17-year-old niece, while a 37-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault involving his 16-year-old niece.
In another case, a 31-year-old man was charged with raping his 29-year-old wife, but this matter was also discontinued after the complainant recanted. An 18-year-old man has been charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin.
A 68-year-old man faces charges including two counts of rape and one attempted rape concerning a 25-year-old woman; however, this case was discontinued due to an inability to contact the complainant.
Three young men, aged 18 and 20, were charged with multiple offenses including five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl. Additionally, a 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape involving a 16-year-old girlfriend.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with raping his 20-year-old girlfriend, and a 19-year-old man faces charges of both rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. This latter case was discontinued after the complainant could not be reached.
Lastly, a 53-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against two men. Another 32-year-old man faces a charge of raping a 20-year-old woman, while a 29-year-old man was charged with raping a 16-year-old girl; both cases were discontinued after the victims made false reports.
Overall, eight cases were closed following Nolle Prosequi filings due to insufficient evidence, victims being uncontactable, or false complaints.
