A 17-year-old boy is among 26 individuals who faced charges last month for serious sexual offenses, as announced by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The minor has been accused of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, the 26 suspects are charged with 70 counts of various sexual offenses, which include 46 counts of rape, 3 counts of attempted rape, 2 counts of abduction with intent to commit rape, 5 counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault. There are 24 victims in these cases, 15 of whom are below the age of 18. The victims comprise 22 females and 2 males.
Among the charges, a 76-year-old man faces one count of raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, while a 56-year-old man is charged with three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man has been charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter. In a separate case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but this case was discontinued following the accused’s death.
Further charges include a 35-year-old man facing one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault against his 14-year-old stepdaughter, and a 32-year-old man charged with two counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. A 56-year-old man has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against his 13-year-old niece, while a 21-year-old man is charged with raping his 25-year-old niece.
In another case, a 40-year-old man faces multiple counts of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault against his 17-year-old niece. A 37-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault against his 16-year-old niece. A 31-year-old man has also been charged with raping his 29-year-old wife, but this case ended after the complainant admitted to filing a false report.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin. An additional case involves a 68-year-old man charged with two counts of rape and one count of attempted rape against a 25-year-old woman; however, this matter was also discontinued when the complainant could not be contacted.
In yet another case, two 18-year-olds and a 20-year-old have been charged with multiple counts concerning the rape and assault of a 16-year-old girl. A 22-year-old man faces charges of abduction with intent to commit rape of a 16-year-old girl with whom he was in a relationship. A 23-year-old man has been charged with raping his 20-year-old girlfriend. A 19-year-old man faces charges related to the rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, but this case was discontinued as the complainant could not be reached.
Lastly, a 53-year-old man is charged with multiple counts involving two male victims, aged 25 and 21. Additionally, a 32-year-old man has been charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, while a 29-year-old man was charged with raping a 16-year-old girl; both cases were dropped after the victims admitted to making false complaints.
Overall, eight cases were dismissed due to insufficient evidence, victims being unreachable, or false allegations.
