A 17-year-old male is among 26 individuals who were charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with serious sexual offences. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, these 26 individuals were charged with 70 counts of sexual offences in August. The charges encompass various crimes, including 46 counts of rape, 3 counts of attempted rape, 2 counts of abduction with intent to commit rape, 5 counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Among the victims, there were 24 individuals, with 15 being under the age of 18. The victim demographics reveal 22 female victims and 2 male victims. Notably, 12 incidents involved accused persons who were related to the victims.
A 76-year-old man has been charged with raping his 8-year-old granddaughter. In another case, a 56-year-old man faces three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man was charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter.
In a separate case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but this matter was dismissed following the death of the accused. Another 35-year-old man has been charged with one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault involving his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
Further charges include a 32-year-old man accused of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter, and a 56-year-old man charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of his 13-year-old niece. A 21-year-old man has also been charged with raping his 25-year-old niece.
In another case, a 40-year-old man faces multiple charges, including two counts of rape and sexual assault of his 17-year-old niece, while a 37-year-old man was charged with three counts of rape against his 16-year-old niece.
An 18-year-old man was charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin, and a 68-year-old man faced charges for two counts of rape against a 25-year-old woman, but the case was discontinued because the complainant could not be contacted.
Two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man are charged with multiple counts of sexual crimes against a 16-year-old girl. Additionally, a 22-year-old man was charged with abduction with intent to rape a 16-year-old girl, with whom he was in a relationship at the time.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with raping his 20-year-old girlfriend, while a 19-year-old man was charged with raping and attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl. This case was also discontinued due to the victim being uncontactable.
There is also a case involving a 53-year-old man charged with multiple counts of sexual offences against two men aged 25 and 21. Furthermore, a 32-year-old man has been charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, and a 29-year-old man was charged with raping a 16-year-old girl, but both cases were dismissed after the victims acknowledged making false complaints.
In total, eight cases were discontinued due to various reasons, including insufficient evidence, false complaints, or the inability to locate or contact victims.
