A 17-year-old male is among 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with serious sexual offences. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, these 26 individuals were charged with 70 counts of various sexual offences in August. The charges encompass 46 counts of rape, three counts of attempted rape, two counts of abduction with the intent to commit rape, five counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Out of the 24 victims involved, 15 are minors under the age of 18, comprising two male and 22 female victims. There were 12 reported cases in which the victims and the accused were related.
Among the cases, a 76-year-old man was charged with raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, and a 56-year-old man faced three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man was charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter.
In a separate incident, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but the case was discontinued following his death. A 35-year-old man faces charges of one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault concerning his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man has two representative counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
A 56-year-old man was also charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of his 13-year-old niece, and a 21-year-old man faces charges for the rape of his 25-year-old niece. Furthermore, a 40-year-old man is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault involving his 17-year-old niece, while a 37-year-old man faces three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault concerning his 16-year-old niece.
In another case, a 31-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 29-year-old wife, but the matter was discontinued after the complainant admitted to making a false claim. An 18-year-old is charged with the rape of his 11-year-old cousin.
In a separate incident, a 68-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape and one count of attempted rape of a 25-year-old woman; however, this case was discontinued as the complainant could not be located. Additionally, two 18-year-old men and one 20-year-old man were charged with five counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl.
A 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of abduction with the intent to commit rape involving a 16-year-old girl with whom he was in a relationship. A 23-year-old man was charged with raping his 20-year-old girlfriend, while a 19-year-old man faced charges related to the rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. This latter case was discontinued as the complainant could not be contacted.
Furthermore, a 53-year-old man was charged with three counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man. A 32-year-old man is also charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, and a 29-year-old man faces a similar charge involving a 16-year-old girl, with both cases discontinued after the victims retracted their complaints.
In total, eight cases were closed following discontinuances due to insufficient evidence, the inability to contact victims, and instances of false complaints.
