The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s removal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government visit to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader was approved by the party’s executive committee during a meeting on September 25th. Ro Filipe is currently the Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services and also serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Previously, he held the role of Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
