A 17-year-old male is among 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with serious sexual offenses. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In August alone, the 26 individuals were charged with a total of 70 sexual offense counts. These charges included 46 cases of rape, three attempted rapes, two abductions with intent to commit rape, five indecent assaults, and 14 sexual assaults.
Among the victims, there were 24 in total, with 15 being under the age of 18. The victim demographics included two males and 22 females. There were 12 cases involving individuals who were related to each other.
A 76-year-old man has been charged with raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, while a 56-year-old man faces three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. One incident has a 40-year-old man charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter.
In a separate case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter; however, the matter was discontinued following the accused’s death. A 35-year-old man has been charged with one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault against his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
Additionally, a 32-year-old man faces two counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. A 56-year-old man has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against his 13-year-old niece, while a 21-year-old man has been charged with raping his 25-year-old niece.
One case involves a 40-year-old man charged with two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault against his 17-year-old niece. Another individual, a 37-year-old man, faces three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault against his 16-year-old niece.
In an unusual case, a 31-year-old man was charged with raping his 29-year-old wife, but this was discontinued after the complainant admitted to making a false complaint. An 18-year-old has been charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin.
Further cases include a 68-year-old man charged with two counts of rape and one attempted rape against a 25-year-old woman; this case was discontinued as the complainant could not be found. Two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man face charges related to five counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.
A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape of a 16-year-old girl, with whom he was in a relationship at the time. A 23-year-old man faces charges for raping his 20-year-old girlfriend, while a 19-year-old man is charged with the rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl; this case was also discontinued due to the complainant being unreachable.
Additional charges include a 53-year-old man facing three counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man. A 32-year-old man has also been charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, and a 29-year-old man faces charges for raping a 16-year-old girl; both cases were discontinued after victims acknowledged making false complaints.
In total, eight cases were dismissed due to insufficient evidence, victims being unreachable, or false complaints.
