The National Weather Forecasting Centre has announced a severe thunderstorm warning for the eastern regions of Viti Levu. Areas affected by this warning include Nuku to Deuba, Suva, Buretu, Korovou, Dawasamu, Nakarotubu, Nalawa, Navatusila, Naikoro, and other interior locations on the island.

Residents are urged to take precautionary measures as follows:
a) Avoid flooded creeks and drains.
b) Refrain from walking, biking, or driving through floodwater.
c) Disconnect computers and electrical appliances.
d) Stay indoors, away from windows, and keep children and pets inside.
e) Remain alert and continuously monitor weather conditions.

Given the potential dangers associated with severe weather, it is crucial for communities to remain vigilant and prepared. Such storms, while daunting, often bring much-needed rain that can be beneficial for local ecosystems and agriculture once the danger has passed. Thus, staying informed and prepared can help mitigate potential risks while also preparing for a healthier environment post-storm.
