The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall affecting the eastern regions of Viti Levu. These areas include Nuku, Deuba, Suva, Buretu, Korovou, Dawasamu, Nakarotubu, Nalawa, Navatusila, Naikoro, and surrounding inland regions.

Forecasters expect significant rainfall, alongside thunder and lightning, in these areas. Residents are urged to avoid flooded creeks and drains, refraining from walking, biking, or driving through floodwaters due to the associated dangers. To ensure safety, they are advised to unplug computers and other electrical appliances, remain indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets sheltered.

The Weather Office emphasizes the importance of staying alert and monitoring conditions closely. A trough of low pressure is gradually moving over the eastern parts of Fiji and is anticipated to impact the country until tomorrow before slowly shifting eastward.

This warning serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness during stormy weather, encouraging communities to look out for each other and take necessary precautions. By staying informed and heeding safety advice, residents can better protect themselves and their families during this weather event.
