Serua’s Health Crisis: Communities Urged to Unite Against HIV and Drugs

The Health Ministry is actively addressing health concerns in the Province of Serua, particularly focusing on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), with reported data indicating 11 active cases in the area.

This was highlighted by Jovesa Vocea, the Rural and Maritime Development Assistant Minister, during the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty celebration held in Serua.

Mr. Vocea urged community members to remain vigilant and enhance their awareness of drug-related issues, which contribute to a rise in social problems including crime, domestic violence, sexual assault, and the transmission of HIV and AIDS.

He emphasized that combating these issues is a collective effort that requires open dialogue, learning from successful strategies, and sharing experiences to create a united front in the fight against poverty.

Mr. Vocea pointed out that drug abuse remains a significant barrier to societal development, negatively impacting the youth, with statistics showing two cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one case of unlawful cultivation in Serua over the past two years.
