The Health Ministry is actively addressing health concerns in the Serua Province, particularly focusing on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). According to their reports, there are currently 11 active cases of HIV in the area.

This initiative was highlighted by Jovesa Vocea, the Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, during the celebration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Serua. Mr. Vocea urged community members to remain alert and enhance their understanding of the detrimental effects of drug use, which contribute to escalating social issues such as increased crime, domestic violence, rape, and the spread of HIV and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

He emphasized that combating these challenges is a collective effort and called for open dialogue among residents, encouraging them to share experiences and learn from successful strategies to promote poverty reduction.

Mr. Vocea pointed out that drug-related issues continue to hinder societal development, particularly impacting the youth. He mentioned that in the past two years, the province recorded two cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one case of illegal drug cultivation.
