Seema, a film directed by Sabrina Khan, a British-born, Fiji-based human rights lawyer, aims to shed light on pressing social issues and inspire transformative change. The film draws from Proverbs 31:8, which calls for advocacy for those unable to speak for themselves, exploring the intricate realities of domestic violence.
As a personal endeavor for Ms. Khan, who is a survivor of domestic violence herself, Seema serves as a compelling platform to raise awareness about this serious issue. The film illustrates the consequences of domestic violence while highlighting alarming statistics related to the crisis.
“Domestic violence statistics have worsened for women, and I believe we cannot raise enough awareness as the situation is deteriorating globally,” Ms. Khan expressed. She hopes the film will ignite essential conversations, broaden awareness on an international scale, and help disrupt the cycle of violence.
Filmed in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, Seema features lead actress Reena Shah alongside Australian actor Morrison James.
