Seema, a film directed by British-born Fiji and international human rights lawyer Sabrina Khan, seeks to highlight social issues and spark change through its art form.

Inspired by the biblical verse Proverbs 31:8, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,” Seema addresses the challenging issue of domestic violence. This film holds personal significance for Ms. Khan, a survivor of domestic violence, and serves as a vital platform to raise awareness about this pressing concern.

The movie portrays the far-reaching effects of domestic violence and emphasizes alarming statistics surrounding the crisis. “Domestic violence statistics have worsened for women. I believe we can’t raise enough awareness because the situation is deteriorating globally,” Ms. Khan stated.

She expressed hope that the film would initiate essential discussions, elevate awareness worldwide, and aid in breaking the cycle of violence.

Seema was filmed in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, and features lead actress Reena Shah alongside Australian actor Morrison James.
