“Seema: A Film Unveiling the Shadows of Domestic Violence”

Seema, a film directed by Sabrina Khan, a British-born human rights lawyer from Fiji, aims to highlight critical social issues and promote change. Inspired by the biblical injunction in Proverbs 31:8, which calls for speaking up for the voiceless, the film explores the complex realities of domestic violence.

Khan, who is herself a survivor of domestic violence, views this project as a personal mission to elevate awareness surrounding this significant issue. The film vividly illustrates the consequences of domestic violence and emphasizes alarming statistics related to this crisis.

“Domestic violence statistics have worsened for women, and I believe we can’t create enough awareness because it’s escalating globally,” Khan expressed. She hopes that Seema will stimulate important discussions, raise global awareness, and aid in disrupting the cycle of violence.

Shot in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, the film features lead actress Reena Shah alongside Australian actor Morrison James.
