“Seema: A Cinematic Revelation on Domestic Violence”

Seema, a film directed by Sabrina Khan, a British-born human rights lawyer from Fiji, aims to highlight important social issues and inspire change through its artistic expression. Based on the biblical call to action in Proverbs 31:8, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,” the film explores the intricate realities of domestic violence.

As a personal endeavor for Ms. Khan, who is a survivor of domestic violence herself, Seema provides a poignant platform for raising awareness about this critical issue. The film effectively illustrates the repercussions of domestic violence and emphasizes alarming statistics surrounding the crisis.

“Domestic violence statistics have gotten worse for women. I believe we can’t create enough awareness because it’s getting worse globally,” Ms. Khan stated. She expressed hope that the film would trigger essential conversations, elevate global awareness, and aid in breaking the cycle of violence.

Seema was filmed in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, featuring a cast that includes lead actress Reena Shah and Australian actor Morrison James.
