“Securities Exchange Expert Joins Fiji Revenue Authority Board – What’s Next?”

If Nitin Gandhi’s track record at the securities exchange is any indication, his tenure at Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority promises to be highly successful.

During his time as chairman at the securities exchange, at least two notable achievements were recorded, including the early and full trading status for SUN Insurance.

Mr. Gandhi, along with former FRCS CEO Jitoko Tikolevu, has been appointed to the board for a three-year term. They join Nancy Tikoisuva and Neelesh Gounder, who were appointed last year, forming a highly capable team.

Ms. Tikoisuva is a legal practitioner with Toganivalu Legal. Mr. Gounder is an economics lecturer and Deputy Head of School (Research), School of Accounting Finance and Economics at the University of the South Pacific.

Mr. Gandhi, a chartered accountant and former managing partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), is also a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Chartered Accountants. He has previously served as president of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and Fiji Red Cross Society, and is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) Audit and Risk Commission in Geneva.

With over 38 years of experience in assurance, taxation, and advisory services across diverse industries such as tourism, aviation, energy, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and financial services, Mr. Gandhi is well-versed in the challenges faced by Fiji Revenue and Customs Service in its reform and administrative systems.

“There is a need to embrace globalization and digitalization to ensure Fiji Revenue and Customs Service serves its customer base in the most efficient and fairest way,” Mr. Gandhi said. “Modernizing tax compliance and developing systems accordingly are key to the country’s economic development.”

FRCS’s chief executive officer Udit Singh stated that the diverse talent and expertise of the board members would greatly benefit FRCS in its aim to become a world-class service provider.

Mr. Tikolevu served as Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2023. He was the CEO of Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority from 2007 to 2015 and served as the deputy board chairman of Fiji Development Bank (FDB) and Investment Fiji until December 2015.
