Second Chances: The Key to Student Success?

The Assistant Minister for Education, Iliesa Vanawalu, has expressed the importance of granting opportunities to students who have not succeeded academically. His comments followed inquiries about the potential reintroduction of the repeat system in schools. Vanawalu noted that many students who had previously repeated classes have gone on to achieve notable success in their careers.

“We are human beings, and I believe if we are given a second chance to prosper, we should take it,” he stated. He highlighted that several repeat students have successfully completed their degree studies, and many have thrived in their long-term careers.

The no-repeat policy, which aims to ensure that no student is left behind, was established by the FijiFirst government.
