Sebastian Singh, known as “The Sniper,” is set for an exciting matchup against “King” Tonga Tongotongo this Saturday. The fight, which will take place at Prince Charles Park, is for the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title, and Singh is optimistic that the effort his team has dedicated will yield success on fight night.
“We’ve trained really hard for this fight, knowing what we’re going up against. It’s going to be tough, but we’ve left no stone unturned,” Singh stated.
Having faced more challenging opponents overseas, Singh admits to feeling some nerves, especially since this fight is at home in front of his fellow countrymen. “It’s always different fighting at home,” he reflected. However, he draws motivation from the support of the children he mentors, his community, and his family.
This fight carries extra weight for Singh, as his father has been ill, and winning the title would be a significant achievement for him. “This fight is not just for me, but for my dad, my team, and all the kids I work with,” he emphasized.
Singh’s game plan involves strategically breaking down his opponent and aiming for a stoppage in the later rounds. “I’ve fought fighters with better records than him before. It’s just another fight. We’ve done the hard work, and I believe it’ll show in the ring,” he confidently asserted.
Additionally, Singh is eager to have boxing legend Sonny Bill Williams as the chief guest at the event. Singh expressed hope that by performing well, he could create new opportunities for himself internationally, having previously fought on a show organized by Williams’ team in Australia.
Despite the excitement and support, Singh remains resolutely focused on his upcoming challenge. “I’m not looking past this fight. Right now, it’s all about getting through Tonga. After that, whatever comes my way, I’ll be ready,” he concluded.
Fight enthusiasts in Fiji and beyond will be watching closely as Singh aims to secure victory not only for himself but also for his family, supporters, and the nation.
