The players from Ratu Navula College’s under-18 team experienced a significant boost in confidence on Saturday, as a large crowd of supporters dressed in blue filled the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. These parents traveled from the West to cheer on their team during the Vodafone Super Deans quarter-finals against Mahatma Gandhi.
Taniela Vocevoce, president of the parents association, expressed the strong community support, stating, “We anticipated today’s match and have been preparing diligently for a long time. I believe every village in Nadi is represented here to support the boys, including those from the 14 provinces living in Nadi.” Some parents even journeyed from Taveuni to watch their sons in action.
Vocevoce expressed gratitude for the parents who came from various regions of Fiji, as well as the school’s alumni. He added, “We entered the match confident that we would achieve victory in the national quarter-finals.” He also shared his expectations for the upcoming semi-finals, predicting an exceptional turnout and a strong performance from the team.
“Our history with the Dean’s Cup is significant; we have won it before, and we are determined to regain that glory,” Vocevoce said. He acknowledged the traditional support and blessings from the people of Nadi.
