President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has called on all scouts in Fiji to engage in promoting gender equality across all programs and to support vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly.
While addressing over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers at the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, President Katonivere emphasized the importance of jamborees in building friendships and allowing scouts to showcase their abilities in various tasks such as cooking, cleaning, knot tying, and hiking.
He acknowledged the contributions of scout leaders, predominantly teachers, for their dedication and ongoing mentorship.
“While it requires significant sacrifice, we as scouts have committed to this mission to help nurture our youth into responsible citizens for the future,” he stated.
