Fiji’s President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has urged all scouts to engage in initiatives that promote gender equality across all programs and to extend support to vulnerable groups, especially the elderly. Speaking at the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 held at Lawaqa Park, he addressed over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers, emphasizing that jamborees are opportunities for building friendships and showcasing various skills, including cooking, cleaning, knotting, and hiking.

President Katonivere acknowledged the dedication of scout leaders, most of whom are teachers, for their continuous support and mentorship. He stated, “While it demands significant sacrifice, as scouts, we have committed to this purpose to aid our youth in growing into responsible citizens in the future.”
