Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu has confirmed that a report has been filed at the Totogo Police Station regarding explicit content involving Member of Parliament Lynda Tabuya that is being circulated on social media without her consent. The complaint was made by Tabuya herself and is currently under investigation by the Cyber Crime unit.

In a related development, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced the dismissal of Lynda Tabuya from her role as Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection. The Prime Minister utilized Section 92(3)(b) of the Constitution for this decision, which he indicated was made thoughtfully and not without consideration. Despite her removal from ministerial responsibilities, Tabuya will retain her position as a Member of Parliament.

This situation highlights important issues surrounding digital privacy and consent, especially for public figures. The investigation may lead to further discussions about the need for stronger protections against the non-consensual sharing of explicit material online.

In light of this situation, it is hopeful that the ongoing investigations will not only address this particular incident but also encourage a broader dialogue around online safety and the rights of individuals in the digital space.
