Saula’s Comeback: Can the Boxer Rise Again?

After a two-year hiatus, super welterweight boxer Junior Saula is eager to make his comeback. The 29-year-old is set to compete this Saturday in the 70kg weight class.

Saula expressed his determination, stating, “It is time that I break out of my shell and show my worth.” He is participating in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion event at Subrail Park in Labasa, where he will face Kali Vakalalabure, a debutant from Natewa Bay, in a six-round bout.

Throughout his career, Saula has participated in four professional matches, achieving two knockout victories and two losses. He boasts an impeccable amateur record with three wins, all by knockout. Despite his past success, Saula acknowledges the challenge ahead and is not underestimating his opponent.

“I am going in the fight looking for a knockout,” he stated. In preparation for the match, he has dedicated three months to intensive training. He credited Nat Ledua for helping him with training tactics and thanked his brothers for serving as sparring partners.

Saula anticipates a strong performance from Vakalalabure, stating, “My opponent is going to bring his A-game to impress fans, but I am ready.” He also expressed gratitude to the Fiji Boxing Commission for bringing the fight to Labasa, allowing the community an opportunity to enjoy an exciting boxing event.
