The Salad Bowl netball festival will see an expansion next year as it adds rugby and volleyball to its offerings. Judy Kumar, president of Salad Bowl netball, announced these plans following the successful event this year, which featured 36 teams competing in netball.

“Next year, we’ll introduce rugby and volleyball, and we’re aiming to invite teams from Australia to challenge local teams,” Kumar stated. The initiative aims to provide local teams with more chances for competition and growth.

“It’s not just about winning cash prizes, but about offering development teams the opportunity to advance,” Kumar emphasized. This year’s festival included 12 Under-15 teams, 16 Open Grade teams, and 8 men’s teams, with the upcoming expansion expected to enhance the 2025 event even further.

Kumar also expressed gratitude towards the event’s sponsors for their crucial support in making this year’s festival a success. She thanked Coastal Rentals, Salad Bowl Island Hire for funding the facility, KBL Buses, and Jay Whyte from Sigatoka River Safari for their generous sponsorship, especially for the cash prizes awarded to the U15 grade and the two best players. Additionally, gratitude was extended to the Fiji Sports Council for providing the venue.
