The Land Transport Authority, in collaboration with the Fiji Police Force and other key organizations, is gearing up for a joint enforcement operation aimed at ensuring safety during the finals of the 2024 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Super Deans Championship.
Irimaia Rokosawa, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the LTA, emphasized that any disruptive behavior or traffic law violations will be dealt with as enforcement teams monitor road activities.
There will be a particular emphasis on preventing dangerous actions by passengers, such as waving school flags from moving buses, as these actions pose risks to public safety and other road users.
Mr. Rokosawa highlighted that maintaining public safety is a fundamental priority, stating that joint teams will be in place to monitor traffic regulation compliance at significant checkpoints.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, particularly in areas with high foot traffic.
