The Vodafone National Kaji and Kajiana Championships 2024 concluded successfully after three exciting days, marking a triumphant return after a five-year hiatus. Seventeen district teams from across the nation gathered at the HFC Stadium, Bidesi, and Buckhurst parks, showcasing their talent and passion for rugby. In a surprising turn of events, several rural districts exhibited remarkable performances, defeating more established urban teams.

Lui Nabogi, the vice president of development for the Fiji Primary Schools Rugby Union and the games coordinator, praised the dedication and preparation demonstrated by all participating districts. He expressed that the skill displayed on the field was a direct result of the hard work the teams put in leading up to the tournament.

Nabogi noted the rising level of competition, particularly highlighting the unexpected victories of rural teams, which deviated from past years when urban districts typically dominated. He emphasized the championship as an important avenue for students, especially those who may not excel academically, to showcase their talents and potential in rugby.

Moreover, Nabogi extended his gratitude to the parents and guardians who supported the event, as the increasing attendance each day reflected their steadfast encouragement for the young athletes.

This tournament not only reinforces the spirit of rugby in the community but also serves as a promising platform for the future stars of the sport to emerge. It is a testament to the talent present in all corners of Fiji and the opportunity for young individuals to pursue their dreams, regardless of their academic achievements.

Overall, the success of this event bodes well for the grassroots development of rugby in Fiji, fostering a culture of sport and community involvement that can inspire the next generation of players.
