The first-ever Nakavika Youth 7s tournament in Namosi is set to be an exciting display of rugby talent, featuring 32 teams that will compete over three days starting on Wednesday.
Merewai Serukeitoga, the tournament secretary, shared her excitement about hosting this event in Namosi for the first time, highlighting it as an opportunity for young players to showcase their abilities.
“This is the first competition in Namosi, and we are eager to bring this tournament together,” Serukeitoga stated. “This event is primarily for the youth, encouraging them to come together and play rugby, offering them a chance to be recognized in the sport.
“We have teams from Serua as well as several from Suva, ensuring thrilling rugby action throughout the tournament.”
In addition to rugby, the tournament will feature four women’s teams and six mixed volleyball teams, adding to the competitive atmosphere. Food stalls will also be present at the venue, inviting the community to come out and support their favorite teams.
The match fixtures have been organized into eight pools. Pool A includes Liganibai Saliadrau, St Michael Navunikabi, St Gabriel Nakavika, and Nakorowai Brothers. Pool B consists of Nasamama Brothers, Muana Exile, St Gabriel, and Seniniu. Pool C features Seniniu One, Veinuqa Babas, and Bula Brothers, while Pool D contains Seniqumu, Seniwaulo Wainiyavu, Untouch Fiji, and Cakaunivalu.
Pool E includes Veivatuloa, Veinuqa Babas, Matababani, and St Paul Navunikabi; Pool F has Seniqumu, Nasamama Brothers, St Gabriel, and Nuku. Pool G comprises Seniboro, Wailevu Brothers, Bula Brothers, and Nakavu; Pool H features Senibua Two, Vakacegu Brothers, Seniwaqiri, and Untouch Wainadoi.
