The Fiji Police Force rugby team has received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket as they prepare for the upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the local supermarket has sponsored the Police Blues, who are set to defend the prized bowl against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, a security consultant for Shop N Save, presented the sponsorship and expressed gratitude for the officers’ contributions to the community and nation-building efforts.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, Mesake Waqa, the president of the police rugby team, stated that the sponsorship will assist with the team’s logistics and thanked Shop N Save for their ongoing support.
“We are not underestimating our opponents,” he emphasized. “This is a significant event where both forces aim to showcase their best performance.”
Waqa noted that despite the military team recently losing the Escott Shield, they would be prepared to reclaim the Sukuna Bowl.
The specific amount of the sponsorship has not been disclosed.
