The Caginitoba men’s sevens rugby team made their way to the island of Vatulele for the Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers Vatulele 7s tournament, marking their third appearance as a team from Soso, Naviti, Yasawa. The tournament, featuring 24 teams, kicked off yesterday on the grounds of the Vatulele District School and is set to conclude today.
Team manager Navoliyani Draunimasi shared insights about the team’s preparation leading up to the event. The team had the support of one trainer, who is a resident of the village and also represents the Yasawa 7s team. Draunimasi emphasized that this preparation was crucial for gearing the players up for the challenges they would face during the tournament.
With a fresh group of players participating, Draunimasi views this competition as an invaluable opportunity for the team to enhance their understanding of rugby. He noted this is only their third tournament, and with each game they play, their skills and experience will continue to grow.
The team expressed gratitude for the unwavering support they have received from families and fans back in Yasawa, as well as from international sponsors and local figures, such as Momo na Ratu na Tui Naviti.
