The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) and the Fiji Rugby Union have formalized their collaboration through a memorandum of agreement focused on the FSC U20 7s competition. This initiative aims to enhance grassroots rugby in the nation, with the FRU partnering with the FSC to ensure the event’s success.
During the signing ceremony held at the FSC Boardroom last week, representatives from both organizations committed to organizing a tournament that will identify and cultivate new talent, preparing aspiring players for future opportunities to represent the national team.
According to the agreement, the FSC will manage strategic planning and venue arrangements, while the FRU will provide technical expertise and leadership in rugby affairs. This partnership is designed to create an enjoyable competition experience for both male and female athletes.
The tournament will feature 16 teams in each division, promoting gender equality as a key aspect. Players of varying skill levels will have the chance to showcase their talents on the rugby field when the first leg kicks off at Thompson Park in Navua early next month. The overall champion will be determined after a series of five tournaments.
