The Fiji Bitter Nahehevia 7s tournament is set to take place next month, celebrating its third year with an inspiring mission to promote unity and resilience within the local rugby community. This year’s event aims to provide an exciting platform for athletes to showcase their skills, as well as fostering community connections through the beloved sport of rugby.

Mike Spencer, the General Manager of Paradise Beverages, highlighted the company’s commitment to grassroots rugby during the tournament launch. “Our partnership with the Nahehevia 7s is a testament to our belief in the power of rugby to unite communities and nurture rugby talent,” he stated, expressing excitement for this year’s even larger event.

The Nahehevia Rugby Club president, Marika Kurisese, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the tournament is a celebration of local culture and talent. “By involving local players and fans in our activities, we aim to create a memorable experience that extends beyond the rugby field,” Kurisese added.

In addition to the matches, the tournament will feature a variety of community engagement activities, providing opportunities for deeper connections among participants and spectators alike. As part of its dedication to sustainability, the event will also contribute to the Fiji Government’s initiative to plant 30 million trees over the next 15 years. Following last year’s success, trees will be planted in designated areas within Sigatoka Town, reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Registration for the tournament has officially opened, targeting 56 teams comprised of 32 men’s, 16 youth, and eight women’s teams, with matches scheduled for February 14-15 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Overall, the Nahehevia 7s promises not only competitive rugby but also a chance for the community to come together in celebration and support for local talent, embodying the spirit of solidarity and growth within the sport.
