Rugby Legend Waisale Serevi Hospitalized: Latest Health Update

Fiji 7s rugby icon Waisale Serevi is currently receiving treatment in India due to chest pains. The head coach of both the men’s and women’s 7s teams, Serevi guided the women’s team to a silver medal at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy in Nepal before being admitted to the hospital on October 10.

Rugby India shared a message on social media expressing their best wishes for Serevi’s recovery. They stated, “We wish our 7s Head Coach, Waisale Serevi, all the very best in his recovery. We shall provide another update in 24 hours.” They added that he is stable and in good spirits.

According to Manipal Hospital, Serevi’s coronary angiogram indicated he has minor coronary artery disease. The hospital confirmed that he is stable and is expected to be moved out of the ICU the following day.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has also conveyed his warmest wishes for Serevi’s swift and full recovery. He stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Get well soon.”
