Rugby for a Cause: Tournament Fuels Church Building Dreams

The All Nations Christian Fellowship hosted a successful two-day Epic 7s Tournament over the weekend at Prince Charles Park, concluding yesterday.

The event attracted large crowds and raised funds for the construction of a new church, featuring 20 senior men’s teams, 24 U21 teams, and five women’s teams, all competing for a worthwhile cause while demonstrating high-energy rugby.

This tournament is a key part of the church’s three-year initiative to gather $30,000 to $35,000 needed for a new place of worship in Suva. With a goal of raising between $20,000 and $25,000 from the tournament, the church community expressed excitement over the turnout and support received.

Tournament Director Vilitati Galivia shared details about their objectives. “The primary purpose of this tournament is to build an All Nations Christian Fellowship Church in Suva. We have secured land in Suva, but we need funds to construct the church. Our budget to complete the building is around $30,000-$35,000. We are following a three-year plan, and from this two-day 7s tournament, we hope to raise $20,000-$25,000,” Galivia stated.

The tournament featured teams from various divisions including the Western, Northern, and Eastern regions. The Police team showcased its dominance throughout the competition. Teams from the Western and Northern divisions also displayed impressive skills and sportsmanship, leading to a highly competitive tournament.
