Jone Raibevu, known for his impressive 57-meter penalty kick in the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Eastern Zone final, is optimistic about his future after being selected for the Fijian Drua Academy. At just 17 years old, Raibevu is among 28 talented players chosen to undergo specialized skills training provided by Drua coaches and high-performance staff over a three-year program.
Raibevu, a year 12 student at Queen Victoria School, expressed his excitement, saying, “I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would come this far in my passion for rugby. This is my dream coming to reality.” He is determined to make the most of this opportunity and learn from the experienced management and coaching staff at Fijian Drua.
He shared his aspirations, stating, “I took the advice from the Drua coaches and management to heart to achieve my goals, which include becoming a member of the Fijian Drua team and donning the Flying Fijians jersey in the future.” His encouragement extends to aspiring rugby players, urging them to set their goals and diligently work towards achieving them.
The first group of players selected for the academy has been chosen from fifteen local secondary schools across the nation, reflecting a promising future for rugby in Fiji.
