The President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, acknowledged the combined efforts of schools, organizers, parents, and sponsors in creating a nurturing environment for secondary school rugby.
At the 85th Fiji Secondary Schools Under 18 Deans final held at HFC Stadium, President Katonivere highlighted the importance of rugby in shaping the futures of young Fijians.
“It is always a pleasure to celebrate rugby moments at home, especially when they involve our students – our children,” he stated. “This event marks the beginning of an exciting rugby journey for our young students, and I am proud to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Fiji Secondary School Rugby and the final of the 2024 DEANS Competition.”
He encouraged the student athletes to value their experiences and friendships, urging them to return stronger in the following year.
“There are many young boys and girls who would want to be in your position. Enjoy the moment. Cherish the friendships. Take the lessons learned along the way and come back as better players next year,” he said.
The President also expressed his gratitude to parents and supporters for their steadfast dedication to the players’ well-being.
