Waisea Nayacalevu, the captain of the Flying Fijians for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has indicated that the team has not received any communication from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU). The lack of contact follows recent allegations of mismanagement within the FRU that emerged more than a week ago.
Nayacalevu expressed his frustration during a live podcast with social media blogger Lesi Vanuavou, stating that despite efforts to reach out, there has been no response from the FRU. He mentioned that he had contacted FRU Trust Board Chairman Peter Mazey, who initially agreed to a meeting with senior players but later became unavailable.
“Since then, no one else has reached out to us,” Nayacalevu said, emphasizing the need for discussions to address the ongoing issues. He urged for accountability and proper management within the organization.
Furthermore, Nayacalevu revealed that the players have sent emails to the FRU concerning outstanding salaries for matches played against the Barbarians, Georgia, and the All Blacks earlier this year.
