RSMS U16 Team Readies to Face Suva Grammar School

The Ratu Sukuna Memorial School under-16 rugby team is intensifying their preparations as they gear up to face Suva Grammar School in the Vodafone Deans Southern Zone Secondary Schools Rugby semi-finals tomorrow.

Undeterred by the challenging weather conditions, the team has been committed to refining their skills and addressing areas of weakness.

Team captain Peni Nawai highlighted the significance of this week in their preparation, noting the rigorous training sessions as they strive to deliver their best performance.

“We had a tough week of training because this is a crucial time for us to excel. The weather has been cold and the grounds haven’t been ideal, but we managed to train and ready ourselves for this challenge,” said Nawai.

Nawai pointed out that their previous match revealed areas needing improvement.

“Our focus this week has been on enhancing our lineout skills, as we made several mistakes in that area during our last match,” he said. “We have also been working on our defense so we can be at our peak when we face Suva Grammar School.”

“As the sole U16 team representing our school, there is considerable pressure on us, but we’re excited and looking forward to the game. Suva Grammar School is a formidable opponent with significant experience in the Deans competition, but we’re ready to take them on.”

Having reached the national quarter-finals last year, the RSMS team is determined to exceed that accomplishment and advance to the final this year.
