A strong wind warning has been issued for all Fiji Waters this weekend. The Fiji Meteorological Services provided a serious alert indicating that rough seas are anticipated to increase.
Sailors and fishermen are strongly urged to take necessary precautions and avoid venturing into rough waters. An east to southeast wind flow is currently affecting the Fiji region, influenced by a trough of low pressure located to the south.
Around midday today, east to southeast winds of 20 to 25 knots are expected, accompanied by rough seas and moderate southerly swells.
Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for several areas, including:
– Serua-Namosi;
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu;
– Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki;
– Eastern Macuata;
– Southern Bua;
– Cakaudrove;
– Kadavu;
– Lau; and
– Lomaiviti groups.
Other regions are likely to experience cloudy conditions with showers and potential isolated thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon or evening. A similar weather pattern is anticipated across all divisions and outer islands, with chances of isolated thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening.
