Tui Kamikamica, the captain of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, anticipates a fierce and physical matchup against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls tonight, adding to the excitement of what is expected to be a heated rivalry on the field.
During the captain’s run yesterday, Kamikamica highlighted the team’s week of training, emphasizing the final preparations for the opening match of the Pacific Championship.
Kamikamica expressed, “We have had a productive week of training where we focused on honing our combinations between the halves and forwards. We are ready for a tough and physical game.”
He stressed the importance of intensity and energy in the ruck, stating, “The battle will be won in the middle, and whichever team brings the most energy to the ruck will have the advantage. That has been our key focus.”
The captain also mentioned the necessity of building defensive momentum this week. “Our main goal is to strengthen our defense, as that will allow everything else to fall into place,” he added.
As kick-off approaches, Kamikamica noted the significance of individual player performance, which would ultimately enhance the team’s overall strength against the Kumuls. “We need to concentrate on our individual roles. If everyone fulfills their responsibilities, it will be easier for the team.”
The match between the Bati and the Kumuls is set to begin at 8:10 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
