Rising Stars of ACS Gear Up for Major Athletics Showdown

The athletes from Adi Cakobau School (ACS) are gearing up for the upcoming Tripple N zone meet and Coca Cola games following their strong performance in a recent inter-house competition at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The junior athletes, particularly the Sawani girls’ team, are determined to improve upon their previous year’s third-place finish in the Coca Cola games.

Media Officer Ravuama Latilevu expressed satisfaction with the competition results, praising the dedication of the girls. “We had a great competition, and the girls are really doing their best,” he stated, emphasizing the positive momentum heading into the major events. ACS is actively preparing to defend their Tripple N title and aims for a strong showing at the Coca Cola games.

Despite the absence of well-known senior athletes, as many have graduated and progressed to tertiary institutions, the school is excited about the rise of promising young talents. Latilevu noted, “This year we are happy to see that we have so many raw talents coming up… Our sub-junior and juniors are the ones that will shine on track and field.”

The school also expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the ACS OG association and acknowledged the contributions of former athlete Makelesi Bulikiobo in coaching and guiding this year’s team.

The narrative surrounding the ACS athletes mirrors a broader trend in Fiji’s athletics scene, highlighted by various schools preparing and showcasing young talent at competitions like the Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championship. Many schools are emphasizing community support and the nurturing of grassroots talent, setting a hopeful outlook for the future of sports in the region.

As the athletes prepare for the major competitions, their spirit reflects not only personal ambition but also a communal effort to uplift the next generation of athletes in Fiji. The upcoming events promise to be an exciting showcase of talent, determination, and the vibrant future of athletics in the region.
