Isireli Digitaki, a Year nine student from Nabua Secondary School, expressed his gratitude for the experience gained at the Fiji Golf Open. He competed in the junior category at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“This was my first time participating in the Fiji Golf Open, and I’m really happy with my scores,” he commented. However, he admitted that the pressure affected his game, resulting in several poor swings.

Digitaki was pleased to compete alongside his two uncles and older siblings, who also participated in the tournament and won various prizes, including electrical appliances. “We can’t afford some of these items, but winning them for free makes us very proud,” he said.

He noted the challenge of carrying his golf bag, which contributed to his fatigue during the tournament. “I need to work on managing pressure to enhance my performance in future tournaments,” he stated. He thanked God for providing him with the strength to endure the three-day competition.

Digitaki acknowledged Complete Insurance Services for covering his golf membership fees, stating, “Without their sponsorship, I wouldn’t have been able to play in the tournament.” He also extended gratitude to Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for supporting other juniors, including himself, in the event.

He expressed his appreciation to the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring the free entry of ten juniors in the tournament, recognizing that many juniors struggle to afford entry fees. Additionally, he thanked his family and teachers for their support and guidance throughout the tournament.
